Production sheet and receipt printing
Updated October 31, 2026
Once the daily cutoff has frozen the orders for a delivery date, the kitchen has everything it needs to cook and pack: a production sheet that says how much to make, and a receipt for every bag.
The production sheet
Open Production in the console and choose the service date. The sheet is built only from frozen orders, so it shows exactly what customers will receive, nothing more and nothing less.
For each meal it shows:
- Plates: how many of this meal to make;
- Components: each component of the meal, its amount per plate, and the total for all plates.
The totals come from the quantities on each meal, multiplied by the number of plates. If you reuse one component across many meals, you get an accurate picture of how much of it the day needs.
The sheet counts meals across all programs together. A meal eaten by customers on three different diets is still one line, because it is cooked the same way.
At the top you see the number of plates, meals, components and orders, and whether the day is Frozen or still Awaiting cutoff. Before cutoff the numbers can still change as customers pick. Use Previous and Next day or the calendar to move between dates, and Print sheet to get a paper copy for the kitchen.
Bag receipts
Each delivery gets an 80mm receipt slip for its bag, printed from Receipts. The slip carries a QR code. Drivers scan it in the Sahen Driver app when they take the bag, which marks the delivery as out for delivery.
Receipts are drawn by the console itself, so the paper matches the screen, Arabic text included.
Setting up a receipt printer
Sahen prints bag slips straight to a thermal receipt printer: one click, no print dialog, and a cut after every slip. It works with common ESC/POS receipt printers (for example Xprinter, Epson TM, Star and generic 80mm models), on USB or the network, from Windows or Mac.
What you need
- A print station: a computer that the printer is connected to, or that is on the printer's network.
- A free helper program called QZ Tray on that computer. Sahen support gives you a one-line command that installs and configures it; it needs administrator rights once.
Steps
- Run the setup command from support on the print station. On a Mac, if it says "Operation not permitted", allow Terminal once in System Settings → Privacy & Security → App Management, and run it again.
- USB printer: make sure it appears in the computer's printer list. Network printer: it must be on the same network. Print its self-test page (usually by holding FEED while switching it on) to read its address. On a Mac with a network printer, also turn on Local Network for QZ Tray in System Settings → Privacy & Security.
- In the console on that computer, open Business → Printers, choose Use this computer, pick the printer and paper width, and press Test print. The bar should touch both edges, the QR should scan, and the paper should cut just under the last line.
- Keep the console open on that computer. A pinned tab in the background is fine; QZ Tray starts with the computer.
Printing from other devices
Once a station is set up, anyone on your team can press Print on an iPad or another computer. The job goes to your default station, which prints it within a few seconds, even if its console tab is in the background. Two tabs never print the same job twice.
Reprinting and failures
To reprint a slip, press Print again. If something goes wrong, the console tells you why:
| Message | What to do |
|---|---|
| QZ Tray is not running on the print station | Open QZ Tray on that computer. |
| The printer did not answer | Check power, paper, cable or network. |
| Not printed in time | The station was off. Print again. |
A failed job is retried up to three times. A job that nobody prints within 15 minutes fails rather than printing late. The browser print dialog is always there as a fallback, including Save as PDF.
Cancelling a delivery after cutoff
Plans change. Before a driver takes the bag, you can cancel a frozen or in-production delivery. Sahen then:
- returns the credits used for that drop to the customer;
- marks its eating days as skipped, so they do not count against the pack;
- moves the customer's remaining service to a later drop, which the next cutoff freezes.
A delivery that is already out for delivery cannot be cancelled. After Return to kitchen it is frozen again, and you can then cancel it, which refunds that day's credits.
After a cancel, check the production sheet and reprint any slips you need, so the kitchen and drivers work from the current orders. See the FAQ or write to support@sahenos.com for printer help.
